How to Install It

1. Open the filter cover. It's in the upper right corner inside the fresh-food compartment. Press or pull the cover so it swings down.
2. Remove the old cartridge. Pull it straight down and out. A small amount of water may drip — have a cloth ready. The water line closes itself, so there's nothing to shut off.
3. Unwrap the new filter. Leave the protective caps on until the moment you fit it, and don't touch the O-rings with dirty hands.
4. Line it up and push up. Insert the cartridge into the receptor and push straight up until you feel and hear it click into place. Do not rotate it.
5. Close the cover until it latches flush.
6. Flush the system. Run about 2.5 gallons of water through the dispenser — roughly four to five minutes — discarding it as you go. This clears trapped air and loose carbon fines.
7. Reset the filter indicator. Press and hold the filter reset button on your control panel for about three seconds until the light changes.
8. Discard the first two batches of ice. Ice made in the first 24 hours may look cloudy while air works out of the line.

Replacement Schedule

Whichever bracket you fall into, replace the cartridge at six months even if the indicator hasn't changed colour. The indicator counts time and dispenser volume — it doesn't measure what the filter has actually collected.
