Sub-Zero 7012333 Ice Maker Water Filter

The Sub-Zero 7012333 is the replacement water filter for Sub-Zero UC-15 series undercounter ice makers, including the UC-15, UC-15I, UC-15IO, UC-15IP, UC-151 and UC-151P. It is a direct fit — same cartridge, same quarter-turn housing, no adapters and no tools required.

Sub-Zero has since updated the part number from 7012333 to 7042803. Both numbers describe the same filter, so whichever number is printed on the cartridge currently in your ice maker, this is the correct replacement.

An ice maker filter is easy to forget about, because you never pour a glass from it. But every cube your UC-15 makes passes through this cartridge first. Once the carbon block is saturated, chlorine taste and odour carry straight into the ice, sediment and rust particles cloud the cubes, and hard scale begins to build up inside the water lines and reservoir. Flow rate drops, the unit works harder to fill, and cube quality goes with it. Replacing the cartridge on schedule is the cheapest maintenance you can do on the machine.

How to Replace the Filter

1. Locate the cartridge. The filter sits at the lower front of the ice maker. Depending on your build, access it either by opening the ice maker door and looking to the lower left, or by pulling out on the bottom edge of the front grille and tilting it forward.
2. Remove the old cartridge. Twist a quarter-turn counterclockwise and pull straight out. Water shuts off automatically. If it is stiff, a rubber jar opener gives you enough grip — do not use tools.
3. Transfer the knob. Pull the reusable colour-keyed knob off the end of the old cartridge and fit it to the new one.
4. Fit the new cartridge. Push it firmly and squarely into the receiver, then turn clockwise until it stops. It must be fully seated before it will lock — if it is not locked, water will not flow.
5. Flush and discard. Run the ice maker and throw away the first full batch of ice. This clears trapped air and carbon fines from the new block.
6. Close up. Tilt the grille back into place and snap it shut.
7. Reset the indicator. Press and hold the CLEAN key for 6 seconds to reset the filter counter and clear the REPLACE FILTER light. Repeat if it does not clear the first time.

Is 7042803 the same filter as 7012333?

Yes. Sub-Zero superseded 7012333 with 7042803. The cartridge, media, dimensions and fitment are identical, so either number gets you the correct part for a UC-15 series ice maker.

Will this fit my Sub-Zero refrigerator?

No. This cartridge is shaped for the UC-15 ice maker housing and will not physically fit a Sub-Zero refrigerator. Refrigerator models take the 4204490 (replaces 4290510 and 9030868), which covers BI Classic, PRO 48, Designer and Integrated series.

I fitted the new filter and no water is coming through. What now?

The cartridge is not locked. Remove it, re-insert it straight and push firmly all the way into the receiver, then turn clockwise until you feel a solid stop. The internal valve only opens once the filter is fully seated and locked, which is a safety feature rather than a fault.

Does it fit Manitowoc ice makers?

Yes. The K00374, K00374001, AR-2800, SM-50 and SMS050A002 Manitowoc machines use the same filter housing and take this cartridge directly.

How do I reset the filter light?

Hold the CLEAN key on the UC-15 control panel for 6 seconds. The counter resets and the red REPLACE FILTER indicator clears. If nothing happens, hold it again — it occasionally takes a second attempt.

Should I throw the first batch of ice away?

Yes. Discard the first full batch after any filter change. It clears air and loose carbon from the new block, and the ice after that will be clear.

What does UC-151 mean — is that a different machine?

No. UC-151 and UC-15I are the same ice maker; the difference is only whether the model code is written with a numeral one or a capital I. The same applies to UC-151P and UC-15IP. This filter fits all of them.
