Samsung DA29-00020B (HAF-CIN/EXP) Refrigerator Water Filter
Description
The Samsung DA29-00020B, also sold under the code HAF-CIN/EXP, is the replacement water filter for a wide range of Samsung French door and side-by-side refrigerators with an ice maker and water dispenser. It reduces chlorine taste, odour, and sediment so the water and ice from your dispenser taste clean and fresh.
The slim cartridge twists in and out by hand, so no tools and no water shut-off are needed for a normal change. Each filter is rated for roughly 300 gallons, or about six months of typical household use, whichever comes first.
Key Features
- Reduces chlorine taste and odour for better-tasting water and ice
- Carbon block media also captures sediment and fine particles
- Rated for up to 300 gallons, or approximately 6 months of normal use
- Tool-free twist-in installation — no water shut-off required
- Direct replacement for DA29-00020B, DA29-00020A, and HAF-CIN/EXP
- Fits Samsung RF22, RF23, RF25, RF26, RF28, RF30, RF42, RH, RQ, and RS series refrigerators
- Available in 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 pack quantities with bulk pricing

Compatibility Guide
Your model number is printed on a label on the inside wall of the fresh food compartment, usually on the left-hand side near the top, or behind the kickplate at the bottom front. Match the first characters of your model number to the series below. The ** stands for the finish and revision codes at the end of the number, which do not affect filter fit.

Installation
- Open the fresh food compartment and locate the filter housing on the upper wall or in the top right corner.
- Turn the old filter about a quarter turn counter-clockwise and pull it straight out. A small amount of water may drip, so keep a cloth handy.
- Remove the protective cap from the new filter and line up the arrow on the cartridge with the mark on the housing.
- Push the filter in and turn it clockwise until it stops and feels seated.
- Run about 2 to 3 gallons of water through the dispenser to flush out trapped air and loose carbon dust. Some sputtering and grey-tinted water at first is normal.
- Hold the filter reset button for about 3 seconds until the indicator light turns from red or orange back to blue or green.
- Discard the first two batches of ice, then check the housing for drips over the next few hours.
Replacement Schedule
| Household | Typical Use | Suggested Change Interval |
|---|---|---|
| 1 – 2 people | Light dispenser and ice use | Every 6 months |
| 3 – 4 people | Daily dispenser and ice use | Every 5 to 6 months |
| 5+ people | Heavy dispenser and ice use | Every 4 to 5 months |
| Any household | Noticeably sandy or sediment-heavy supply water | Every 3 to 4 months |
Change the filter sooner if the water flow slows noticeably or the taste and odour start to come back, whichever happens first.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is DA29-00020B the same as DA29-00020A?
Yes. The 00020A was the earlier code and the 00020B replaced it. They are the same size and fit the same housings, so either one will work in your fridge.
Will this fit if my fridge currently has a DA97-17376B?
No. The DA97-17376B (HAF-QIN/EXP) is a physically different cartridge and will not seat in a DA29-00020B housing. Order the DA97-17376B listing instead.
Do I need to turn off the water supply first?
No. The housing seals itself when the cartridge comes out, so a normal change can be done with the water line still connected. Keep a cloth nearby for the small amount of water in the old filter.
Why is the water grey or sputtering after I fit the new filter?
That is trapped air and loose carbon fines from a fresh cartridge. Run 2 to 3 gallons through the dispenser and it will clear.
The filter light stayed red after I changed it. What now?
The indicator is on a timer and has to be reset by hand. Hold the filter reset button on the dispenser panel for about 3 seconds until it changes colour. On some models the button is labelled Ice Type or Alarm.
How long does one filter last?
Around 300 gallons, or roughly six months in an average household. Larger households and homes with sediment-heavy water will get through them faster.
Can I buy more than one at a time?
Yes. Use the quantity selector above to choose a 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 pack. Bulk pricing is applied automatically on multi-packs.
