Product Description

This LT1000P replacement cartridge is the drop-in filter for LG French door and side-by-side refrigerators built from 2017 onwards. It uses the same twist-lock body, seal and flow path as the filter your fridge shipped with, so it seats in the existing housing with a quarter turn — no tools, no shutting off the water line, no plumbing.

Inside, a two-stage cartridge combines a carbon block with a sediment layer. The carbon stage cuts the chlorine taste and smell that makes tap water unpleasant, so your dispensed water and ice taste clean rather than of the pipes. The sediment stage catches the rust flakes, sand, silt and scale particles that come loose in household plumbing and end up as grit in the bottom of the glass or cloudy ice cubes.

Each cartridge is rated for 200 gallons or six months of use, whichever comes first. Your LG control panel tracks water dispensed and will light the filter indicator when the cartridge is due.

Installation Instructions

  1. Find the filter. On most LG French door models it sits in the upper right of the fresh food compartment. Side-by-side layouts vary — check your manual if it isn't obvious.
  2. Remove the old cartridge. Turn it counterclockwise a quarter turn and pull straight out. A small amount of water may drip — have a cloth ready.
  3. Unwrap the new one. Pull off the protective cap. Don't touch the O-rings.
  4. Fit it. Push the cartridge into the housing and turn clockwise a quarter turn until it stops. It should sit flush with no gap or wobble.
  5. Flush it. Run about 2 gallons through the dispenser (roughly 5 minutes). Cloudy water at first is trapped air, not a fault — it clears within a few glasses.
  6. Dump the first ice batch. Discard the first full tray the icemaker produces.
  7. Reset the indicator. Press and hold the filter reset button on the control panel until the light changes. The exact button varies by model.
Installation tip: a quarter turn is all it takes. If it won't seat, don't force it — pull it out, rotate it slightly and re-align the tabs. Overtightening is the most common cause of leaks after a filter change.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know my fridge takes the LT1000P and not another LG filter?

Read the part number printed on the filter you're removing. LT1000P, LT1000PC, LT1000PCS, ADQ74793501, ADQ74793502, ADQ747935 and MDJ64844601 all mean this cartridge. If it says LT700P, LT800P or anything else, it's a different filter and won't interchange.

Are LT1000P, LT1000PC and LT1000PCS the same thing?

Yes. The suffixes reflect packaging and colour variations only. All three are the same cartridge and fit the same refrigerators.

Why did my indicator light come on before six months?

Because LG counts gallons, not days. A household that goes through a lot of dispensed water and ice can hit 200 gallons in three or four months. Replace when the light comes on, whichever comes first.

Does this fit Kenmore refrigerators?

Yes — Kenmore models built on LG's platform use this filter under numbers 46-9980, 9980, 469980 and ADQ74793502. If your Kenmore filter carries one of those numbers, this is your replacement.

My water is cloudy after installing. Is the filter faulty?

Almost always no. Cloudiness is air trapped in the line during the swap. Run 2 gallons through the dispenser and let a glass stand for a minute — the cloud clears from the bottom up as air escapes.

Water flow is slow after fitting a new filter.

Usually the cartridge isn't fully seated. Remove it, check the tabs align, and re-fit with a firm quarter turn. If flow is still slow, run a further 2 gallons to clear residual air from the line.

It's leaking from the filter housing.

Overtightening or a misaligned O-ring is the usual cause. Remove the cartridge, check the O-rings are seated and undamaged, wipe the housing, and refit with a quarter turn only.

The reset button won't clear the light.

Press and hold for 3 to 5 seconds rather than tapping. On some LG panels the reset is a combination hold — check your manual for your specific model.

Do I need to turn off the water supply?

No. The housing seals itself when the cartridge is removed. Keep a cloth handy for the small amount of water held in the old filter.
