Installation Instructions

1. Locate the Filter: The filter is located in the upper right corner inside your refrigerator compartment
2. Remove Old Filter: Grasp the filter and slowly rotate it to the left (counterclockwise). The cartridge will rotate approximately 1/2 turn, then pull straight out
3. Install New Filter: Insert the new filter into the housing and slowly rotate to the right (clockwise) until it stops — approximately 1/2 turn. The filter should be firmly locked in place
4. Flush the System: Run water through the dispenser at full flow for approximately 4 gallons (around 5 minutes) to flush air and activate the filter. Initial water may appear slightly cloudy — this is normal
5. Discard Initial Ice: Discard the first batch of ice produced after installation
6. Reset Filter Indicator: If your refrigerator has a filter indicator light, press and hold the reset button until the indicator resets. On models without an indicator light, place a date sticker on the new filter as a reminder to replace it in 6 months

Are the MSWF and GSWF interchangeable?

No — not at all. The MSWF and GSWF are completely different filters with different physical shapes, sizes, dimensions, and connection mechanisms. They are designed for entirely different filter housings. Neither is an updated version of the other. If your refrigerator uses the GSWF, this MSWF filter will not physically fit.

How do I know if I need the MSWF or the GSWF?

Check your current filter's label — if it says MSWF, you need this filter. If it says GSWF, you need the GSWF instead.
